Facial Clay – A Wealth of Minerals in Your Beauty Kit
We could go on and on about the origins of clay, but we prefer to get straight to the point, so let's dive into the essentials. Clay is extracted from the depths of the earth, formed through a series of chemical, biological, and geological processes. The most valuable clay is found deep below the surface. Each type of facial clay – and there are many – is rich in microelements like magnesium, calcium, iron, and silicon. These minerals are easily absorbed, which explains their popularity in natural skincare. Clays are widely used in various cosmetic products, including creams, soaps, shampoos, and even body scrubs and bath salts. They also work wonderfully on their own.
French White Clay (also known as Porcelain Clay) is the gentlest among clays, yet it effectively absorbs impurities and toxins. At the same time, with careful use, it smooths, soothes irritations, brightens, and strengthens the skin.
White clay owes its properties to a high content of aluminum silicate, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and iron. This natural material is extracted from sedimentary rocks containing, among other things, kaolinite and quartz.
It is ideal as a mask for dry, mature, and sensitive skin. Porcelain clay from Brač is recommended for a home spa experience. You'll find a recipe below. But remember, your options are limitless. While clay is a great foundation, you can enhance it with herbal infusions, essential oils (in moderation), hydrosols, or even other clays.
Fragrance: Unscented
Packaging: Glass jar with an aluminum lid
Skin Type: Dry, sensitive, mature, irritated-
You can mix the clay with water or hydrosol. Add a few drops of your favorite oil, serum, or even yogurt to the mixture. It's important to prevent the clay from drying on your face – you can keep it moist by spritzing with water or hydrosol. Feel free to mix different types of facial clays together.
This is an ideal base for a cleansing face mask:
Mix one tablespoon of porcelain clay with your favorite hydrosol and 4-5 drops of your chosen oil until you achieve a paste-like consistency. Apply the mask evenly on your face. Rinse off after 10 minutes. Remember to keep the mask from drying out by occasionally spritzing your face with hydrosol. This combination of clay, hydrosol, and oil can also be used as a scalp mask.
Store the clay in a dry, shaded place. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
