A blend of two seaweeds: Fucus vesiculosus and Lithothamnium calcareum in the form of micronized powder. It is used for foil-wrapped body compresses, and can also be applied to the face, just like pure Fucus seaweed.
Fucus vesiculosus, or bladderwrack, is a thin, branching brown-green seaweed. It is found on the Atlantic coast (around the English Channel and the coast of Great Britain), the North and Baltic Seas.
Dried Lithothamnium still contains 10-12% water, 15% mineral salts (0.3-0.8% iodine and a similar amount of potassium), 1-2% fatty acids and fucosterols, 4-5% proteins, and 65% condensed carbohydrates, mainly algin and alginic acid, as well as some cellulose. Alginic acid is insoluble in water and swells by absorbing water up to a hundred times its own weight.
The seaweeds are rich in vitamin C and provitamin A.
Fucus has antioxidant properties, making it recommended in cosmetics that protect the skin and hair from oxidative processes and act against skin aging. It also affects the metabolism of subcutaneous tissue, thereby accelerating fat burning.
It has nourishing, purifying, and strengthening effects. Moreover, it regenerates and moisturizes the skin.
One of the methods of processing seaweeds is the micronization of their thalli, which directly enhances their effectiveness in absorbing valuable ingredients through the skin. Micronized seaweeds can be easily used in cosmetic procedures.
Lithothamnium calcareum is a seaweed consisting approximately of 36% organic, natural, ionized calcium, and about 4% magnesium. It removes dead parts of the epidermis, leaving the skin clean and silky.
Lithothamnium contains over 4000 nutrients, including:
- All vitamins (A, B, D, E, and K);
- Omega-3 saturated and unsaturated fatty acids;
- Rare essential microelements, such as: iodine, selenium, zinc, cobalt, copper, iron, and chromium;
- Amino acids, including all eight essential amino acids, such as isoleucine, leucine, lysine, and phenylalanine;
- Antioxidants, particularly from the carotenoid group, beta-carotene.
