Soak the sponge in water. Squeeze out the excess water, leaving it damp (the sponge should expand significantly, indicating it's ready for use). For wet application: Apply a small amount of the product (foundation, concealer, or other cream-based cosmetics) directly onto the skin, not the sponge. Distribute the product by gently patting with the sponge. For dry application: The sponge can also be used for "baking," which involves the precise application of loose powder. Use the wider part of the sponge for larger areas of the face and the narrow tip for hard-to-reach areas (such as the inner corners of the eyes, eyelids, or nostrils) and for more detailed work. After each use, wash the sponge thoroughly with mild soap or shampoo, rinse it well, and allow it to air dry (note — do not store the sponge while it's still wet to avoid mildew).
