Before use, soak the sponge in water. Apply the foundation using a bouncing, dabbing motion in several layers. After each use, wash and dry the sponge.
These sponges are great. They are slightly different: the largest one expands in size and is very soft, like a cloud, it's a pleasure to use. It's the best sponge out of all the ones I've had. And it's very easy to clean. The smaller sponges are more firm, slightly stiffer, but they are also good for blending concealer under the eyes. It would be perfect if all three sponges were different sizes, but that's just me being picky. For this price, it's an excellent option.
In the photo: the green sponge is already enlarged after being wet, right next to it is a wet white sponge, and the furthest one is a dry white sponge. It's clear that the white one has slightly increased in size compared to when it was dry.
