Penhaligon's Elisabethan Rose Eau de Parfum is the olfactory embodiment of the rose's beauty. These exquisite fragrances are sure to delight fans of floral compositions with woody-musky undertones. The perfume was inspired by the famous Tudor rose.
Top notes reveal the composition with delicate hints of hazelnut praline, the sweet bitterness of almond, warm cinnamon, and sweet, gentle citrus nuances of tangerine.
Heart notes present a luxurious bouquet featuring the most beautiful flowers: the graceful red lily, the tender delicacy of the May rose, the tangy geranium framed by rose oil, and the enchanting sweetness of plum and intoxicating blackcurrant.
Base notes complete the perfume with a velvety trail woven from grassy-smoky vetiver, sensual musk, rich and multifaceted woody notes, honeyed-floral shades of powdery iris root, and floral-herbaceous nuances of violet.
I have been using these perfumes for half a year now, but it never crossed my mind that they smell like cucumbers or, even more so, borscht! This is a very elegant, expensive scent of fresh roses, with a pleasant bitterness. Truly, there's no accounting for taste!
About the split in the point.
In my opinion, this ruins the entire scent.
The first three seconds are like pickled cucumbers, but then a rose appears with a pleasant and unique aroma. I can't say that it's very long-lasting... if you have the opportunity, it's better to try the perfume on yourself before buying the full-sized version.
Some girls here mentioned the smell of brine, but to be honest, it smells like rose with dill to me, no matter how hard I try. Surprisingly, it's actually very beautiful. In my opinion, this is the best rose I have ever tried - juicy, sweet, without the taste of "grandma's powder" that many rose perfumes have (like Tom Ford's Rose Prick). Overall, I really liked it.
The fragrance is long-lasting, but it's a matter of personal preference as it smells like pickles, believe it or not.
The longevity is extraordinary. I applied it to my wrist, and the bracelet still smells after the second day, and I believe it will continue to do so. The scent is a combination of roses soaked in cucumber brine. As soon as I applied it, the first thing that came to mind was "salty rose." My husband even commented, "I was wondering where that borscht smell was coming from."
