Elizabeth Taylor could not imagine her life without jewellery. She especially loved diamonds. This love of the famous actress for gemstones was personified in the 'diamond' collection of women's perfumes from the Elizabeth Taylor fashion house, represented by four fragrances. One of them is Diamonds & Rubies Eau de Toilette, which embodies a diamond's majestic luxury combined with a ruby's alluring depth.
The olfactory pyramid of Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds & Rubies Eau de Toilette:
Top notes create an exquisite bouquet of delicate lilac, royal red rose, and white lily framed by ripe peach nuances.
Heart notes are woven from sweet heliotrope, tender jasmine, fresh lily of the valley, powdery orchid, rich rose, and exotic ylang-ylang, complemented by spicy undertones.
Base notes complete the composition with marine ambergris, warm benzoin, earthy musk, and sugary vanilla intertwined with woody shades of sandal and white cedar.
The perfume is wonderful. At the start, it has a retro and prestigious feel, with a bouquet of expensive and fresh flowers, accompanied by all the resulting shimmering, sweetness, bitterness, and tanginess from the bouquet. After about half an hour, it settles down with a hint of almond and soft spices, followed by woody notes. It has a lingering trail, but on me, it stays close to the skin, while on clothes, the floral notes last longer. The longevity on the skin is beautifully fading. Compared to modern fragrances, it is not sweet, but the flowers - lilies, red roses, and ylang-ylang - give off their sweet notes, although they don't last long. The bold opening may deter young girls, although the almond-woody continuation is suitable for any age. In conclusion, it is a bright fragrance with retro and passionate first notes, multi-floral with vibrant contrasting notes, but soon becomes nutty and woody. It is not a gourmand scent, and in the final accords, musk is noticeable. I sense apricot in the middle, in the flowers perhaps, but it is more likely the almond with the flowers. It is very warm, cozy, and oriental. It's as if you're sitting in a blooming garden in the heat, with a dish of almonds, raisins, and dried apricots in front of you, sipping spiced tea with cinnamon and cardamom. I cannot recommend it because everyone has different tastes, but for me, it calms me down in the base, so you need to endure the initial stage. A masterpiece at an affordable price.
Bright aroma, in the finest classical traditions. Perfumer Sofia Groysman.
