The creation of the Jardins de Bagatelle fragrance by Guerlain was inspired by a story of a bet between Queen Marie Antoinette and the Count of Artois. The queen doubted that the count could transform the site of a demolished cottage into a grand castle within just ten weeks. Hence, a magnificent castle emerged in the Bois de Boulogne, and within the Guerlain collection - a new women's fragrance, Jardins de Bagatelle, was born.
The composition of Jardins de Bagatelle is a complex interweaving of floral-musk notes. Breathing in this scent, you can't help but feel transported to a blooming garden, where the air is filled with the fragrances of violet, aldehydes, jasmine, and the freshness of bergamot with lemon. The heart of Jardins de Bagatelle is textured, even more complex, where nine different flowers are harmoniously blended. Its trail is fresh musky, of medium persistence, lingering at a certain distance from you.
The Guerlain Jardins de Bagatelle bottle, with its "draped" shoulder, hints at a connection to the caryatid statues in that very magical garden.
Floral with a touch of vintage charm, but not quite my cup of tea.
