Wet your skin with sufficiently hot water to soften the hair and cleanse the skin before shaving. Apply a small amount of shaving cream and lather it using a shaving brush. If you prefer, you can use the shaving cream without a brush: simply apply the cream with your hands to your damp face and lather. Shave with the grain of your hair. Shave very slowly, using short strokes, and clean the blade thoroughly. Do not shave over the same area twice without reapplying shaving cream. Apply shaving cream to your skin again. This time, shave against the grain of your hair. Avoid pressing too hard on the razor to prevent ingrown hairs and irritation. Rinse your face with cold or warm water.
