A cast is formed - tight curls, which you break up by scrunching the curls and you get bouncy, shiny, and long-lasting curls, not dry or stiff, but cool curls. In short, you just need to get used to it, and it's a great product. If you dry without a diffuser, there is a wave and the curl is noticeable, but not as long-lasting or defined.

This product is useless, it doesn't do anything, it just lays around doing nothing.
