It didn't happen right away, but I grew to love it. It dissolves makeup well and cleanses, but after using the balm, I do an additional cleansing with a face wash gel. My skin type is close to oily. This is already my second time purchasing it, and I have no plans to change.
For me, it turned out to be too comedogenic (horribly clogging pores). Therefore, I do not recommend it for those who are prone to this.
I tried this balm and here's what I can say about it.
Advantages:
✅ Price (very affordable compared to other hydrophilic products)
✅ Does its job: cleanses the skin, removes makeup and sunscreen
✅ Economical
✅ Non-comedogenic (if thoroughly rinsed)
✅ Decent composition
✅ Good for removing sunscreen from the body
Disadvantages:
❌ Consistency: the balm should soften and turn into oil when warmed, but it doesn't always work that way
❌ Comfort: not a pleasant feeling on the skin during washing, and it's also difficult to rinse off. Feels like washing off regular vegetable oil
❌ Requires very thorough rinsing. Unlike hydrophilic products from celimax and beauty of joseon (even though they have a different format and application method), it doesn't emulsify well when in contact with water. It needs to be rinsed multiple times using a cleansing product (poor rinsing can lead to clogged pores and breakouts)
Update: It's more comfortable to rinse off with a damp cloth, but it still has its nuances. It still means rubbing the skin, so it's not suitable for problematic/sensitive skin.
My rating: 6/10
My conclusion: It's better to pay more and buy a quality cleanser. The consumption of hydrophilic products is low, so one good hydrophilic cleanser will last a long time. If the budget is extremely limited, it can be considered as a last resort.
I suppose it might work better for dry/normal skin. For sensitive and problematic skin, it should be used with caution and/or not on a regular basis due to difficulties with rinsing (it can irritate the skin and worsen breakouts). It might also work for oily and combination skin.
This product didn't suit me well, although I really like other products from this manufacturer.
I really liked this product! It effortlessly removes makeup. Afterwards, you just need to wash your face with a gel or foam. It feels pleasant to the touch and smells delicious. No breakouts have appeared!
This product is really great at removing makeup if you follow the instructions carefully, and then clean off any residue with a dry towel. Afterwards, when I washed my face with my regular cleanser, everything was fine. However, it seems to me that this balm turned out to be comedogenic for me. I ordered it not from a makeup store, but from an offline store in Britain, but I decided to leave a review.
I bought this a while ago and accidentally came across this page again and realized that I didn't leave a review, which is clearly necessary.
1. This thing is NOT THE USUAL HYDROPHILIC BALM/OIL that everyone is used to!
Makeup, please add the instructions for use in the description because I see that others who bought it are having trouble with application. It's written on the tube how to use it, but maybe not everyone pays attention to that because they are used to a different way hydrophilic products work.
2. Until the description is updated, I will leave here HOW TO USE IT.
== With dry hands and on dry skin, massage for 30 seconds and (CAUTION!) wipe off with a warm, damp towel! ==
In other words, it won't work if you rinse it off with water.
3. If you follow the instructions, there are no complaints about the product in principle. But... because of its unusual form and application method, this product didn't really work for me, so I switched back to balms.
I do not recommend it! It does not emulsify well and poorly removes makeup. There are much better hydrophilic oils and balms available for the same price.
It has a citrus scent, which is its only positive aspect. However, it performs very poorly in removing waterproof makeup, leaving mascara stains on the face. I also noticed that the consistency changes from thick to liquid over time, and this is all within the packaging. I have never experienced this with similar products in jars. I gave it 2 points for its smell and price, and that's all. I won't be purchasing it again; it's better to pay more and get the balm from Heimish.
It has a pleasant scent and is economical to use. This product is suitable for combination skin prone to oiliness. However, it did not perform well in removing non-waterproof mascara completely, and there is not enough emulsion. After using it, I always follow up with a cleansing gel because there is a slight greasiness left on the skin. I will go back to using haimish again, as it has shown to be significantly better.
I didn't order it here, but I want to leave a review. The balm disappointed me, the only plus is the pleasant smell. It is very thick and seems to remove makeup, but it is very difficult to wash off, it feels like a film remains. I agree with the comment below - heimish is much better, you definitely won't regret it.
I was expecting more. It doesn't remove mascara well, even though it is stated that it is not intended for the eyes. However, if it is a hydrophilic balm, I would like it to cover this aspect as well.
When rinsing with water, it feels like I've smeared myself with vegetable oil.
Over time, it turns into a mush when squeezed out.
Also, I immediately wash it off with a gel because it doesn't come off with water at all.
It's better to buy Heimish face balm.
I am a big fan of this brand, but this is the first product that missed the mark for me. I have been using hydrophilic cleansers for a while now and have something to compare it to. It is not the best option for combination skin because it doesn't give that emulsifying effect when washing with water, leaving a greasy film on the face. It didn't really cause any breakouts, but the overall feeling is not very comfortable. Of course, I use a cleansing gel as a second step. On the positive side, it has a pleasant citrus scent, a little goes a long way, and it effectively removes sunscreen and makeup. I think people with dry skin will appreciate it, but I won't be repurchasing it.
This is my first hydrophilic balm, as I have only used oils before. It has a pleasant texture and a citrus scent. One pea-sized amount of balm is enough for one use. It is important to apply the balm with dry hands to prevent the components from emulsifying in your hands. When it comes into contact with water, like all hydrophilic products, it transforms into a light emulsion. It does a great job of removing makeup and cleansing, which is its main function. It is an excellent product for such a price.
