Great product, I have light skin and it looks natural and replaces a visit to the tanning salon. I recommend it. The scent is long-lasting and pleasant.
I have been using self-tanners regularly for years. I have probably tried most self-tanners on the market, from budget-friendly to luxury brands. My skin is very fair but not dry.
The texture is liquid, even a bit oily. It spreads perfectly with my hands in seconds. There is no need to try and rub it in, which is the ideal texture for me. If you have trouble applying it without streaks, using a mousse self-tanning glove can help. I don't understand how anyone can't apply it evenly with a glove.
The scent is a natural cocoa smell. If you apply it a couple of hours before bed, the self-tanner scent doesn't have time to develop. Personally, I think the combination of the cocoa/coffee scent with the self-tanner smell (like Lirene coffee self-tanner, for example) works well, and I don't see any problem with it. Compared to other self-tanners, I don't smell any scent at all. In the morning, my clothes and body smell like cocoa. That's it. Obviously, if the smell of cocoa/chocolate bothers you, then skip Palmers.
There are no streaks left anywhere. If you compare it to other self-tanners where you have to wash everything and everything still smells like self-tanner, this one is perfect. My white sheets stayed white.
The color is the only thing that disappointed me a bit. I used to consistently use St. Moriz Dark, which was not at all reddish and quite dark. This one has a reddish tint and is lighter. But it's a gradual tanning lotion, so I have no complaints about that.
I don't know how it will fade yet. But I'm confident that with proper care, it will fade smoothly like the others. I use it 1-2 times a week.
Some people compare it to Dove. Dove has shimmer and a different composition. I want to believe that Palmers is less harmful or even beneficial for the skin. It doesn't dry out my skin. The scent of Dove is just like Dove. And the texture of Dove is thicker, making it harder to apply/distribute. The color is probably similar, yes.
If you specifically need a self-tanner, this is not your option. It won't give you the desired color in one go. I'm not sure if it will even give it after multiple uses. However, if you are looking for a good skincare product with self-tanning as a bonus and you know how to use it and love this brand, you will appreciate it. It's a good product. I think I will even buy it again just for the scent and easy (for me) application.
Awful self-tanner. I bought it based on a friend's recommendation.
1- The smell is incredibly unpleasant, like burnt skin.
2- I applied it after taking a shower at night and woke up with streaks.
3- The smell is so strong that it permeates all my clothes and bedding.
The only positive thing is that the color is somewhat nice, despite the streaks.
I will try other self-tanners.
